A powerful reportage for the media

Jean-François Rouquette, head chef of the Michelin-starred Pur’ at the Park Hyatt Paris Vendome, is an icon of French cuisine in Paris and beyond.
Our photography campaign objectives were clear, we needed to build on his brand and bring it back to life with a series of impactful portraits that would catch the eye of the press.
Inspired by the story of the chef himself, who for over 15 years has directed one of the best restaurant teams in Paris and maintained his Michelin star in the process, we decided to photograph him holding a spoon and recipe book against a strong black background, to create this playful, strong portrait.

A Special Collection

We follow Jean-Francois Rouquette throughout his day to capture a series of photographs that best reflect his sophisticated, yet approachable and colourful world of the senses.
Peeking behind the curtains, we show a proud chef who ensures his customers take delight in savouring his plates.
The simplicity of this composition against the beautiful curtain backdrop of his restaurant captures the emotion.
For contrast, beautifully captured snapshots of his textured, soulful and highly refined dishes served at Pur, his Michelin star restaurant and at Cafe Jeanne.

At Jean-Francois Rouquette´s Café, guests are often greeted and welcomed by the chef himself. We take advantage of these spontaneous moments to show his authentic love and warmth as he smiles and chats with customers, making them feel at home and part of the family.
This speaks of a powerful story that elevates the experience.

A front and back of house story

Behind the scenes – and despite leading such successful F&B outlets, he still finds time to personally hand-pick the ingredients that will later go into his dish creations. A true showcase of his cooking passion.

One Photo. Many Stories

Our on location experience showed us two sides of the same man that perfectly balance each other out.
With this all-encompassing portrait we wanted to reflect just this.
By carefully choosing the attire, his serious vs. smiley face and a colour vs. black and white edit, it all comes together to represent an accurate portrayal of the Michelin starred chef.

Experience speaks for itself

His years in the kitchen shine through his extensive wisdom.
With his eyes closed, he is capable of recognizing the ingredients of almost any dish.
This photo was taken to capture that sensitivity and the vast knowledge he has of his profession, which in turn, translated into a recipe book he wrote himself, and that we believed needed to be part of the story we wanted to bring back to life.

Café Jeanne, the location

Finally we photographed the space where you can meet the chef any time of the day.
We shoot corners with closed shots to show that an open space is cosy because of the light, the place, the food and the affection that this chef gives off through his food and his love for what he does and for the clients of the Park Hyatt Paris Vendome.
